                                Sarah R. Serfati (b.2004) is an Eora-based artist, curator and artsworker whose practice explores sites, monuments, and symbols as platforms to surface patterns of erasure within the context of a colonised and extractive world system. In assessing the displacement and slippage between both local and international sites’ enduring realities, memories, and histories, Serfati utilises temporal and sculptural forms to reorient, reflect, and resist.

During her site investigations, Serfati’s work involves engaging with archival materials, public records, conservation documents,  and cross-disciplinary research. This interdisciplinary approach extends into Serfati’s studio space, gliding across digital mediums including 3D modelling, photography and video media, while also engaging with impermanent sculptural installations utilising found glass, salt, and sand. This studio output of temporary installations in Serfati’s projects center decolonial methodologies and non-linear, cyclical attitudes to time and space, reflecting on knowledges from indigenous groups and peoples of diaspora. 

In 2026, Serfati served as a Co-Director and Chair at Schmick Contemporary while completing her Master of Fine Arts degree at the National Art School.  In 2024, Serfati received the Clitheroe Foundation Scholarship and the Brandon Trakman Prize from the National Art School. 

Serfati’s recent curatorial projects include Proof of Place -  إثبات المكان - இடத்தின் சான்று - ස්ථානය පිළිබඳ සාක්ෂි (2026) and Celebratory (2025) at Schmick Contemporary. She has participated in exhibitions across multiple artist-run and independent spaces, including Substack at Gallery Paiza (2026), Angel Hum at Tiny Gallery (2025), Idol at QHY Space/Join the Dots Gallery (2024) and Sequence at Backspace Gallery (2024).
